Intruder

Mr Butler came back home extremely tired after long hours spent at the office. When he had finished eating supper, he entered his tiny bedroom where he could finally relax watching a film he had borrowed on the way from work. But he could not stand the heat caused by hot summer days so he opened the window wide and his room was now filled with fresh air coming from the outside. He turned the light off and went straight to bed to immerse in the movie. Nothing could now disturb his peace of mind. He started watching but the exhaustion made him fall asleep somewhere in the middle of the film. He was sleeping like a log… Then he was suddenly woken up by some unbearable noise in his room. He opened his eyes but could see nothing apart from the darkness of the night. However, the noise was stronger and stronger, louder and louder. “What’s that horrible sound?” - thought Mr Butler, who was scared to death. He raised from bed quickly. He held his breath and could not even move his hand to remove big drops of sweat falling from his forehead - he was standing still. Suddenly he heard nothing but silence. It only lasted for a while, however. Now his horror began! He started a fight in order to get rid of the intruder from his bedroom but his actions were all in vain. The intruder was coming closer and closer… “Go away! Get lost! Get out of here!” – Mr Butler shouted. This did not help, though. After some moments of struggle he gave up – he felt pain in the neck and could feel his blood being taken away from his body. “I hate you!” – he finally yelled and swatted the opponent using all the force of his palm. Having done this, he turned the light on, threw the dead intruder out of the window and said to himself: “I hate mosquitoes!” and returned to his bed.
